2006 Range Rover Supercharged Vogue SE Auto Zermatt Silver
wierd Fan noises and whurring noise from engine help please

Guys

Couple of questions in the center console behind the climate contols there seems to be a rattley fan you can hear it all the time from the moment you unlock the car is there an ecu fan or something behind there that can be easily fixed or is it something slightly more tricky as it is very annoying.

Also a couple of time once when it was hot outside and more noticible last night when the temprature dropped there was a loud what can only be described as a whurring noise under acceleration at any speed i also noticed that the car did not get up to full operating temp and also that the engine temp actually went down after a 30 min drive with some hard acceleration.

This morning however when the car was up to temp the noise dissapeared any ideas what it may be.

On a side note i have also noticed what can only be described as loose probes hanging in the engine bay one is by the coolant bottle and the other is right down the bottom by the front bumper any ideas??

The car is a 2006 superchargered

Thanks Supercharged LPG!!

A picture of said loose probe may help diagnose that one.

Fan noise in centre console...rear climate fan? Have you got the button on your lower centre dash for rear vent control? Switch them off, maybe thats it, the rear fans are noisy as hell.

The loud whirring noise under acceleration?. Maybe that's the awesome SUPERCHARGER! THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

There is a fan, I just tollerated mine.. its just behind the small air vent to the side of the buttons on the facia. Pop off the sides to the centre console and then you will see the screws that hold the switch pannel in place. As I say I never explored mine. I guess its a 12v fan so maybe one from a PC could be found as a cheap alterantive. Or maybe a squirt of suitable lube would shut it up. 2008 Nissan Pathfinder Mammoth Sport - "Rory", 1990 110 TD CSW - "Snowy" - 2005 Freelander TD4 S - "Freddie"

The cooling fan issue that you mentioned is exactly the problem that I am having - see here: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic6127.html

I'm not having any luck in finding the root cause of the problem.... 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

The ECU fan is inside the large black box under the bonnet on the left side.

I sprayed the fan with some silicon lube spray and mine is now quiet.

Have you popped the bonnet whilst its whirring and had a listen? For ages I thought mine was somewhere inside behind the vents, but for me, it turned out to be that! Reformed

Dangling probe could be exterior temp sensor which should be fitted behind the grill badge...
Have you got FHB fitted? Rare on an SC but a possiblity for your noise when cold, also get your belts checked as I have heard lots get noisy in the cold when worn...
