yeah i think that is the best way for the win.

Did you manage to hide all the boxes ok? and did the disc changer fit in the exact same place the old one did? and while i'm here!!....... was it just a case of plugging things in or dd each ainet device need its own switched and ignition supply? i'm no stranger to ICE but this is one car i didnt really want to mess with.......... that much!!

I've not got a changer yet. When I have the iPod sorted (waiting on a cable) I'll see whether I need to go for a changer or not. I suspect not - I also suspect I'll get one anyway!

Only the DAB unit needs power. Both the Intravee and KCA-420i run off the existing power for the old CD changer as they are so low consumption.

To use Intravee you must loose the original changer - this is the only downside to the setup, but then Alpine CD changers are 10 a penny.

As for it all fitting in, yes no problem, with the changer removed there is a decent space in the cubby box. Obv thats then where the iPod can live too. For me, only the Intravee lives in there, everything else is routed to the back of the car.

The most difficult part of the whole install is taking the glove box out, but that's a lot easier if you've done it before and know where all the clips and screws are etc.

Right, hooked the iPod up now so have 30GB of music storage on there Very Happy

The only downside is that anything over a few thou songs and it is a bit of a mission to search through. But I think that could be solved by using proper folder structure, rather than my 1000 hits of the 80's all in one.

Organised by album/artist I guess is the way to go.

The intravee is ok - I believe it's the Alpine unit that's slow in reading info. Go to the intravee forum, there are tips on setting things up to go more quickly. I 'only' have 16GB on the iPhone...

I found that what suits me best is to set up plenty of playlists - one to suit exactly the mood I'm in. One quick scroll and it's set up - then I have it go random.

Quick question for you; how did you overcome the charging problems as I understand the Alpine 420i cannot charge anything close to a 4S.

Also, with the 420i is an an actual iPod lead or just supplied with a 3.5 mm jack?

Best, Ram Kanadia
