Advise please

2011 Hse 137k

Check engine light comes on very close to home. No message on display. I have no ID tool. Was running the A/C on full blast and just filled the tank with gas. Engine sounds fine otherwise.

Dealership is 45 miles away. Should I risk driving it or have it towed?

Does the light stay on if you re-start ?

Sometimes it's just a glitch that goes away (hopefully). If it stays on, then you will need some sort of code reader to figure out what's triggering it.

Yea stays on. Even after letting it cool down. Will be calling a tow just to be safe.

Ok this morning the light is off. It must have been too hot. What could be the causes?

This won't help you right now but I would recommend getting an OBDII reader. As you've seen on this forum, we really like the Gap Diagnostics IID. If you don't want to spend that much you can buy this $20 reader from Amazon that will read all of the "P" codes. I have this one and it will read codes that cause the Check Engine Light on all brands/models.

Good luck!
