Whats behind an MY11 bumper!

I removed the bumper cover today, in preparation to install tow bar armature.

the yellow area shows one of the fixing points for westfalia armatures.

in the close up picture below you can see two welds highlighted. There are two identical ones below, and the same on the left hand side.

according to the instructions, and the chief service technician at my dealers, these should be bolts (that are removed to enable fitting on armature).

Anyone here had a towbar fitted after delivery of vehicle (ie not factory fit)?

I am taking the car to the dealer tomorrow morning, but as far as they are concerned (via telephone) this is not correct.

Any words of wisdom gents? Gerry

I am not sure i have ever purchased or received anything vaguely mechanical in my entire life that i have not dismantled/modified etc .

one of my earliest memories is getting a scalextrix type racing set for xmas, and stripping down the cars and motors (removing the magnets, brushes and coils) to see how it worked.

I got in serious trouble, and after reassembling and proving all was OK, I received a further scolding for being cocky Wink Gerry

Just done this on my 2010MY and as Havank states the bolts are on the INSIDE Exclamation

Removing the outer plaster bumper skin will not help Shocked You need to take out the removable floor of the boot that houses the spare wheel, remove both smaller side sections and also the black plastic panels below them Rolling Eyes

This will then allow you to access the 8 nuts which when removed will allow complete removal of the bumper Thumbs Up

Should I be posting a write up on this Whistle 2015 L405 SDV8 Autobiography, Indus Silver with Black Pack.

I was looking if i could find my full write up on how to fit the towbar on rangerover.net, but its gone

it took me about 3 hours to fit the car

I had to take the car to LR to have the ecu reprogrammed so it would recognize the towbar

Still yet to do that but the electrics work perfectly just have to manually turn off the rear parking sensors when hitched up and reversing Rolling Eyes

I think 3 hours in total is a fair assessment too - but be aware of the 21mm bolts underneath Exclamation I needed an air gun to undo them Shocked

I did (when i did it back in 2006)

but i noticed that the full write up has gone, as well as my pictures on imageshack

maybe that is why it is gone from rangerover.net. as the pictures weren't showing anymore

That was a more "FULL ON" excercise than originally expected.
Thanks for the help BTW, I was seriously misslead by the instructions that came with the armature itself.
It appeared as though the 8 bolts were external, not internal.
ANy how, i feel much more intimately aquainted with my vehicel now Laughing
Bit of an "interesting" job for one person, would not have managed without the ratchet stands.
Almost complete strip out of boot, including disconnection of LHS electrics.
Ended up making a last minute trip to Halfrauds to get long collared socket set to access the interior bumper fixing bolts.
On my travels I came across a couple of mysteries (to me anyway) ;

whats the green metal tank beneath the spare wheel?
whats the electric cable that terminates behind the rear mudflaps (last picture below)?
