Westfalia tow bar armature differences

Hello,

Does anyone know the difference between a pre 2006 and the later Westfalia tow bar armature frame? I think I remember reading somewhere that they are different at the front end but could be modified.
Needing one for a 2011 322 but looks to be more chance of getting an earlier one.

I think you could find it`s something to do with the exhaust hangers?

Thanks chaps, that’s good so it’s not a structural change.

I believe the part number changed at 2006.

You can fit an earlier version easily by grinding off the exhaust hanger from the strengtheners and simply bolting on with the bar and car itself -- the old hangers you can leave on, they don't get in the way. Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

So am I right in understanding that you can grind off this red line section so that the exhaust hanger mount can be used on pre-2007 RR?

I've got the pre-2007 armature that I am mounting on my 2011 RR and trying to work around the exhaust hanger differences. Thanks

Hi David,

Almost -- that bracket goes all the way under the rest of the strengthener -- you need the entire bit of angle, including the hole to bolt through with the old type bar set.

Turn that over and you'll see the full piece of angle, like this:-
