L322 Spot Lights / mounting to bumper, how?

All,

Considering a set of spots, figured out the wiring and switch through the bulkhead.

Question(s)

How do you mount the spots to the bumper, does it have to come off to mount the brackets, then back on, imagine if mounted to the bumper, a backing plate for strength, as the plastic won’t hold the spots, maybe I’m wrong.

Can you get access to where the brackets would mount to the bumper from underneath?

Anyone fitting a set, any would be appreciated. Thumbs Up

Cheers

I think back in the day, you could get a chrome bar to mount to, but that might only be for pre 2010 facelift cars.

I’d be surprised if the bumper was strong enough, need something solid behind it.

Must be able to adapt something. Not done it myself though.

That’s my thinking, I did a few searches on other forums, and here, I did find someone who fitted VUU500330 fog lamp fitting kit that seems to work on the MY10-12.

That might be the way to go, still think the bumper needs to come off, although I suspect LR didn’t make any changes to what’s behind the bumper, cheap Censored and the same mounting holes are behind the bumper / crash structure etc.

Could be wrong…

I don't like these light bars or the bracket but it was a quick and simple solution. Without a bullbar this is the easiest and cheapest solution I could see and I already had the light bar sitting in the shed. Gillie

Hi, has anyone any experience of fitting these aux light mounts on an L322 2010+ ?

https://www.powerfuluk.com/products/genuin...-l322-2006

Part number VUU500330, it would appear it also fits newer models.

My question really is abour rigidity, if these just mount to the bumper cover then they're likely to be wobblier than Mr Bean on a bicycle, but is that the case or are these very solid ?

Alternatively are there any other aftermarket brackets available that are solid enough to mount 9" Cibie Super Oscars rigidly, https://valeo-prime.co.uk/cibie-spotlights...-pack.html

I'm not interested in light bars, I'm going for the retro look. Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster

I've just bough the kit and it does look like it may fit the facelift (hope so otherwise I have just wasted £28!) it's a bolt to the bumper bracket and drill hole through the bumper cover rather than simply clipping on so looks like it is going to be pretty stable. Although slightly more work than I was hoping for!

OK that's a better proposition than just clipping on, bumper cover off job then. I think I'll give that a go.

My only thought with this kit (yes i bought one to) is that I'm not sure how universal it is. It looks as though you maybe limited to the £400 Genuine Land Rover ones. Keeping an eye to see.. On the side i prefer round 'old' style spots lights rather than a bar.. 2008 TDv8 Vogue in Java black x2

next video from https://www.youtube.com/@SamsMotors seems to be for fitting Spotlights on the L322 with this very kit and I have also see Overlanding4wd has some ARPs fitted to...so I am quietly confident but am awaiting the video before I get the drill out! 2011 L322 Autobography - a lot of bells and some of the whistles...owner with no idea!

Me too.

My main concern is the horizontal distance between the vertical of the mounting for the light and the grill face, Cibie Super Oscars are quite deep and Im thinking I may have to sacrifice the grill to "melt / mold" it at those meeting points so the spots are not forced forwards by the grill or rubbing at all.

I'd rather do that than fit thin dish spots as they'll likely not be so high performance as the deep dish Cibies.

I can always get another "straight" grill for if I decide to remove them later, so as you, I'll wait for the video and see how that pans out. As I'll run them straight from the main beams via a relay the wiring isn't a problem as I'm not going to switch them independently.

But you can now get wireless relays so no need to pass wiring through the bulkhead if you want them switched. Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster
