Isn't it the valve body , with the soft castings and wear issues causing debris to enter the T/C and that what causes the failure? So unless you replace the valve body the issues will return.

Well my gearbox has just failed, using a local company to rebuild and will be making enquiries as to sorting out the valve block weakness, sleaving etc

Speak to Jeremy Fearn, (google him)

He can put you in touch with someone who builds upgraded gearboxes, that don't break.
