Are rear brake hoses identical on both sides?

Rear brake hoses for 2011 4.4 TD V8 showing as LR058025 & LR058026

I have ordered and received a set of OEM hoses but when I have received them they are Britpart which I have read a lot of negative reports about.

I may well just bite the bullet and get genuine LR hoses (apparently there is a "rubbing" issue with some aftermarket ones)

My question is these hoses look absolutely identical in every way....so is there any difference in the rear hoses. If not I don't understand why LR have two different part numbers, one for the left side and another for the right side.

On my 2006 car the rubber hoses are part of an assembly including steel pipes too. I think I remember when I bought a pair a few years ago that the metal pipe sections were "mirror images" of each other - ie handed.

PS As the vehicle is no longer in production, Land Rover might be buying the hose assemblies via Britpart who buy from the OE manufacturer. Paul,

Thanks for the response.

Yes, attached is the photo of one of the Genuine LR hoses (combined with sections of hard pipe)

I just replaced mine with genuine ones and thought they were the same but there is definitely a subtle difference in them somewhere but I can't remember which bit!! So yes they are different.

Thanks...upon closer inspection you may be right. It appears the two hoses are nearly the same but the bend is just in a slightly different place as I have tried to show in the photo's, otherwise they are the same length and practically identical.

Which leads me to my next question as to which is for the left and which is for the right as they have the same markings on them? No indication which one is for what side.

Yes that is an option and if I was doing the job myself I would do that (providing the existing pipes come out in one piece).

This is going to be a garage job and I just have little faith that someone else will take the time to get it right considering the very fractional differences between them.

Tag some masking tape around each with permanent marker saying LEFT and RIGHT.

Then it's very difficult for the garage to mistake them. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

But is that left & right as viewed from the front or rear?
Perhaps "drivers side" & "passenger side" might be better?
If they fit and work does it matter?

Well they may seem to fit initially but once in use there maybe snags. I have read a couple of members emphasizing you really need to fit genuine hoses as some aftermarket ones are poor fits and can rub and wear quickly. i suppose you would not pick this problem up straight after fitting them.

Anyhow I am sending the aftermarket ones back and purchasing genuine LR ones and another benefit with doing it this way is they are clearly numbered within the pack so that you know what side it is for.

I will stress that the difference between these two hoses is marginal and you would never pick it up unless you really study the two hoses next to each other. It is obviously enough to make a difference upon fitting otherwise LR would have simply used one template for these hoses. Bizarrely the LH side seems to be readily available whilst the RH side less so and as such is more expensive.....Go Figure!

Unsurprisingly the plastic support clips (SHU500030) for these hoses are mega bucks for what they are!
