Well, Gents, thanks for the input. I definetely trust more you and the manual then the guys from the sales dept Laughing

I stuck 95 litres in yesterday, and it wasn't exactly running on fumes when I stopped off at the garage! Gerry

Are all FFRR's fitted with the same size fuel tank?

I'm sure I read the capacity of mine was 115 litres, or did I dream that?

Diesels self-prime these days, no need to worry about that

And the 'sludge in the tank'... well you'd hope the fuel filter would help with that issue FFRR 4.4 V8 Vogue LPG MY03 Black/Sand

That's excellent, and about time!

When did they start self priming? After the TD6 I take it? Laughing

I had a van made in 2002 which self-primed! The TD6 engine was reasonably old when it found its way into the Range Rover though FFRR 4.4 V8 Vogue LPG MY03 Black/Sand

I think I am going to buy a jerry can for Diesel and have it in the boot and see just how far beyond "Range = 0 miles" I can get, put a gallon in and then go fill up to see how many litres go in.

Cat'ed & turboed diesel engine hate this kind of treatment ! Do not do it, your Rangie will thank you

Plus you will suck in all the crap that collects at the bottom of your tank.

Also, make sure you never go off road or over any bumps, as this may shake the crap up from the bottom of the tank.

Not sure all diesels self-prime. At least the TDV6 in the D3 doesn't. Before you take that trip with the Jerrycans make sure you know where the air bleed is and what the priming sequence is.
On the D3 you have to turn the key to II about 10 times then eject the air from the system thru the bleed valve located on top rear of the engine.
How do I know this? Cos I ran out of diesel on my own driveway with 64km range showing on the display.

My FFR is supposed to have a 105 liter tank but I have never managed to get more than 88l in.

I also want to do the jerrycan trick one day when I have time, cos I suspect the gauge is lying Ex: D3 TDV6 SE
