Just for information, I ordered the TD4 EGR kit from ebay as it was a bit cheaper.

I am going to order an alli sport one on eBay, but just want to confirm the install is straight forward and easy access? I saw the guide on wiki but I just want to make sure I don't have to take a million things apart/off before I can get at it.. |

About 20 mins unless you try to clean out the inlet manifold at the same time. Bottom left allen bolt can be tricky but easier when you fit new part as you can see it then.

So went to fit the allisport blanking kit. Should have been 5 min job, nope 5 hour more like. The bottom left bolt was not budging. Dad decided to saw off old valve to get better access. Head on bolt was worn, wanted to scream several times, but eventually lost the head with the vice grip and got it off..the relief. Now one question the hose, I put i blocked it off by putting it onto the nipple of the blank kit. I never thought to secure it on, what happens if it comes off? |

I fitted one of the cheap Britpart EGR blanking kits to my 2003 TD6 HSE. While I had the EGR off I decided to clean the inlet manifold which had approx 5mm of soot buildup lining it. What a job that was I ran it through a parts cleaning solution then hot soapy water and finally washed it in petrol. But what a difference it made, no longer trailing large black smoke clouds under acceleration and the engine seems to rev freer. It went to 4500 in sport mode under rapid acceleration the other day.
