United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Autobiography TDV6 Santorini Black
Restricted performance P006A-00

Afternoon All,
Newbie here, after some advice hopefully. I own THE worlds worst Range Rover, a 13 plate Autobiography 3.0 TDV6.
About 8 months ago, I was driving on the motorway and felt a slight hesitation/surge as if it had an air leak.
A week later the O/S manifold had split, so I presumed this was the cause.
Alas, no.
I have kept driving the car and over the months it has got progressively worse, to the point whereby if you try and drive it on the motorway it goes into limp mode, with the above codes.
So now, it’s parked up, as it has been for a couple of months.
It has been in four garages, including Land Rover, who cannot find a fault.
It has been smoke tested, with no leaks found, it has also had,
2 x new manifolds
2 x MAP sensors
2 x MAF sensors
1 x PCV Valve
2 x new injectors (other 4 passed testing)
1 x Throttle body
1 x CSOV valve
Before I admit defeat and stick it on eBay, free to a good home, does anyone have any ideas or advice on what it could be , or recommend anywhere to take it, I’m based in Manchester.
Thanks
Jay
P.S I’m still convinced it’s an air leak!

Take it to James Henshall at Henshall Engineering. Leave it with him. Don’t expect a quick turnaround as he’s a very busy guy. Why? Because he’s bloody good. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

If you were down south I’d recommend Glenrands but it’s a bit far for you maybe 😎🤭 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

How many times has it been smoke / pressure tested?

Was it done with the engine hot? plastic can expand and contract slightly and if done cold can hide the fault.

A misting of oil is usually a visual tell tale even without smoke if your engine is relatively clean. Current

That’s a very good point Andy. It’s always been cold when it’s been smoke tested.

As you said the engine is very clean and I cannot see any misting, but I’ll see if I can get a chance to try and smoke test it when hot.

I've never worked on a tdv6 so not 100% what else there is thats plastic that you haven't already changed. Intercooler end tanks are probably plastic and buried behind the bumper so could be a hard spot when done cold, not sure if the v6 has the turbo changeover valve under the rad pack.

If you've got your own machine you can get some UVsmoke fluid and with black light it should glow in the dark and be easy to spot. Current

It literally came back last week after the a new changeover valve was fitted, and alas, no better, hence the post.

It still has the bumper and all the plastics off, as I thought, little point building it back up yet.

To me, I’m virtually down too, intercoolers, the link pipe between the turbos, and/or vac pipes, someone mentioned about four vac pipes? Although I’m not sure where they are.

I’ll have a look for some UV smoke fluid 👍

Don't rule out the pipework from the filters to the turbo either, if the V6 has twin filters then smoke both sides, a lot think because it's not pressurised then the fault won't be there or it won't matter but if it's holed then the turbo will suck in un metred air. so in effect you've got too much air than expected rather than a leak. Current
