Looking for a L405 - 65 plate with AdBlue

New to the forum and looking for my first V8 Range Rover. Live up in the Highlands.

Any tips on servicing independents and decent dealerships to source from would be great. 65 plates seem to be running at £30k for mileages below 70k.

Thank you.

Evening
Depends where in the highlands you are, I am up near Dornoch and go down to the main dealership Parks in Inverness, there not a bad bunch can’t fault them to be honest, also in Inverness is Inverness 4x4 who specialise in Landrover I haven’t used them for a long while but judging by their car park they are very busy!
There isn’t any other specialist further north as far as I am aware, probably along the A96 Nairn - Elgin there will be more, Elgin definitely has a main dealer and I have seen an independent somewhere there too. 2018 5.0 SC AB in Byron Blue

Hi Colin,

Thanks for your reply. I live on Skye Used to take the tourer up to Grannys/ Embo about 10 plus years ago. I have heard only good things about Highland 4x4. I like the idea of servicing at main dealer and using an independent for everything else. Hope that doesnt make me seem cheap.

Kind of surprised me that Land Rover wont approve anything older than a16 plate. Tough to get on the RR ladder unless you can splash more than £30k.

Aye not a lot of options on Sky I wouldn’t think, Inverness would be the closest then, I was in Parks last week getting mine serviced there is plenty of 19 reg onwards and a fair few of the new model but nothing older, there is usually 4 or 5 for sale in the other garages on the same industrial estate.
Yes Grannies you wouldn’t recognise it now it’s owned by parkdean and been brought up to date, personally I liked Grannies as it was years ago family owned and run the locals used the pub there all year round but for some strange reason parkdean made the pub into part of the restaurant Rolling Eyes 2018 5.0 SC AB in Byron Blue

When I traded in my last Classic Croall Bryson in Kelso had a buyer for it on Skye. So there might be scope for calling the successor business, Lloyd Land Rover Kelso to see if they would be interested in looking out for a likely trade-in that they regard as sound but which would not meet the LRAU criteria. That was about 25 years ago, and Lloyds is a bigger business and may have a different business model, but I have been a customer there since then and am happy to continue. There is maybe still more of a family owned/mindful of position in the local area aspect with LLR Kelso than with some of the other big groups that have LR franchises in Scotland. I currently deal with George Mack there who is pleasant and helpful.

You might find it useful to keep an eye on the forum 'for sale' section too. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thank you CS,

I have made enquiry with Pentland in Elgin and a helpful salesman is going to give me a call back tomorrow. It would appear that tomorrow never comes round.....

I will reach out to Lloyds tomorrow and hopefully they may value the prospect of new business. Meantime, I have scoured piston heads, gumtree and autotrader. This forum likewise.

Pentland Elgin is my nearest dealer.

I understand what you say about tomorrow never comes - I reckon you could walk into their showroom in a suit made of £50 notes and you'd still not attract the attention of a salesman. TBF the parts department are very good and discounts for parts is not a swear word with them Laughing

Due to the age of my car main dealers are not for me but I struggle to find a local independent. As I can usually tie it in with family visits I always try and use MMP Landrover in Dundee (Mikey on this forum I believe) for specialist services and big jobs and can recommended him.

When searching for my L405 I found that living anywhere north of the Central Belt severely limited choice so I've always been prepared to travel for the right car. I ending up buying from SW England in the end. Like my RRS before, a car from far South will normally have escaped the ravages of Scottish winter roads!

Good luck with your search.

I’m near Alford, and when I was looking there was about one car that fitted my requirements in Glasgow, absolutely nothing anywhere north of that. Ended up going to Leeds.

Hope you find a good one!
