Where do they come up with these figures....

I got the Admiral Multi car Insurance renewal this morning, been with them for 9 years now and they have always managed to be competitive after a phone call and a moan....

I guess they don't want my business anymore as the quote for the fatty was £1991.11

Logged on to Sergei's page and Churchill come out as favourite, not the cheapest but a better policy than Admiral and a lower excess, all for the princely sum of £544.....!!!!!! £1447.11 cheaper

I gave Admiral a chance but they couldn't get anything near and had no reason for their high prices...

Nearly four times the price of another leading Insurance company maybe tells us they will price themselves out of the Range Rover market...

Anyway, two cars and the house fully insured for another year for less than a grand... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete

Hastings wanted 80% more this year. Sacked them off. Previous cars:

Sierra Estate 1993-1997

Same here, recently my car and house insurance policies were due for renewal, in both cases the renewal quotes were well more than double last years figures. Censored
Changed companies for both, car is with Churchill, house with Tesco Bank, both policies are better, more comprehensive policies than last years. Total cost for both policies was just over £550. Spending an hour on the internet saved me about £800 Shocked

Neither of the policies were the cheapest I could find, but a good balance between cost and quality insurance cover for both.

I do get a loading as I have a DVLA notifiable condition (Oh Err Mrs...!!) but I'm well happy with the new quote...

Nice to see there are some others getting really good value prices.

All hail the comparison sites...... Very Happy

As an aside I always try the meerkats and Confused and have ALWAYS found the meerkats cheaper, although I suppose this doesn't apply to everyone...

I feel so sorry for all you southerners who can't get insurance....

Do what I did, move north.... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi,

when our renewal came through it had doubled to about £700 with the AA, checked on a few sites and got a quote for back down to the £350 mark,
guess who it was with Rolling Eyes

the AA, phoned them about renewal before taking the other quote and they could not get close directly as the sites got a better rate. Shocked

its madness

Thumbs Up

I am with Geoffrey Insurance and renewal due start of Nov and when I bought the L405 in August were able to tell me it would be £420 for next year. Then today a letter saying they wont insure. Comparison sites cheapest is £980. An absolute joke and a lot of companies including Churchill and the AA wont even quote. Waiting for NFU to get back as they have to refer to the underwriters, even have the keyless entry disabled. Insurance is a legalised racket. Maybe about time JLR got involved

JLR are involved, they’ve relaunched their own branded insurance service - which was unable to give me a quote, because… the car I wanted to insure was a Range Rover. Brilliant.

Looks like the absolutely insane quotes and refusals to quote are going to hammer residuals.

!st Central were £57 more expensive to move from an L322 to an L405, £25 of that was 'Admin fee' so
actual insurance cost of £452 fully comp.

I renewed with NFU this July at £1100 fully comp. Was £890 last year on 5000 mile lower mileage.
Someone said the quotes had gone mad so went online to test and my cheapest quote was £3500!
I’m hoping that because I’m a existing customer that NFU will go easy on me.
I use a crooklock just to put off the quick nick 🤬.

renewed last week, with Admiral... same company as last year. 4.4 l322 diesel, in Sunny Surrey. -(apparently its grim up north). they did try and grab £670, but got them down to £520. i was sort dreading it, as lots of talk in the papers etc. plus the £600 rod tax as well. -ooof.

Just had my renewal quote through from Adrian Flux for our 2006 3.6TDv8.

It's crazy :
They want a massive £746 despite no claims & 5,000 miles restriction & being in the Midlands.
Last year was £293 - so more than 2.5 times as much

Does anyone have any recommended "reasonable rate" insurers currently ?

AF "managed" to partially reduce the cost to £670 when told I was extremely unhappy - with no explanation of why they didn't offer that price to me initially. They obviously just thought they could make an additional profit of £76 if I'd put up with it !.
I'm going onto the price comparison sites next. Hopefully some slightly saner quotes to come..... Paul,

Wouldn’t hold your breath - best comparison site quote I got was £9k…

No wonder L405 values are dropping like stones.

Having commented earlier up this thread about the excessive 250% increase proposed by Adrian Flux for renewal of our Midlands based 2006 TDv8, I've now spent the time on moneysupermarket.com & got a much more reasonable quote of £373 from Churchill.
A mere £370 cheaper than Adrian Flux and only £80 more than last year.
Obviously I've taken up Churchill's quote !

It was interesting that the moneysupermarket.com sponsor wanted considerably more & their quote expired within hours & then increased substantially 1 day later.
Heritage Brokers had a quote comparable to Churchill yesterday, but appeared not to be quoting at all today - wierd !

I assume I'm going to have to go through the same process again in a month when my Disco 2s insurance is due (also with Adrian Flux) Rolling Eyes Paul,
