Sidewalls on 21” tyre question…

Wifey has been running 275/45/21 Pirelli’s and keeps flipping rimming wheels! So I had a good look this week and the tyres sit very squarely on the wheels! Offering very little in the way of rim protection… I have a set of new take off SVA 22” wheels & 275/40/22 Conti tyres sat here doing not a lot. So I took a look at the amount of tyre bulge today and it appears there is much more rim protection with the 22’s over the 21’s she had fitted!
How can this be?
Could you guys running 21’s take a look at yours please?

This weeks latest rimage!

The reason is is that Pirelli’s are smaller / narrower size for size than Continentals.
Conti’s and Goodyears are a lot wider than Pirelli’s even though they are the same size.

My last FFRR had Conti’s on and the latest one has Pirelli’s - both are 22’s and the Conti’s are around 10mm wider ! 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

The continentals on mine seem to offer adequate protection, although I don’t tend to use the wheels to find the kerb 🙄

No amount of sidewall protection is going to help in this situation.😳

Maybe 20”s with 275/50R20 tires on a narrow wheel to get full bulge? Those rubber rim protector things from AliExpress that have to be pounded into place that cause the bead to leak might help?

A sh*tbox car with steel wheels might be the cheapest option 🤪 Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

If you pan in on my tyre sidewall below even though it’s a 23” it’s got a massive amount of rim protection/bulge…
