My wife's 2014 L405 needs front air springs. The Dealer quoted me $2,500 for a new pair not including installation. I have seen rebuilds for much less. Has anyone replaced their's with rebuilds? Thx!!

Why do they need replacement?

Aftermarket Arnott units can be found on Rockauto.com for $415 USD each.

I think mine make a bit of noise when driving slow over rough surfaces, but I haven’t removed them to see if they are leaking internally. That’s my next step as everything else has been replaced except the ACE bar/valve unit.

The noise could be from the upper mount bearing, if it has one like traditional struts. I don’t really want to use the shotgun troubleshooting method of replacing parts for the sake of replacing them, only to find out that wasn’t the problem, especially at this price point. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

I did a front air strut on my L322 and it looks to be a similar procedure on a L405. It wasn't a bad job and definitely not a $2k job. The first time of doing it took around 2 hours, you'd expect that to be maximum time for the job so book time is probably 4 hours.

I bought the entire OE strut unit for the L322 rather than just the bag replacement. After doing the job, I'm really glad that I made that choice.

Update to my post: the new Arnott units do not have continuously variable damping. The remanufactured Arnott units do.

The ASE Arnott units have CVD with their in-house shock, except they cost the same as OEM from Island 4x4. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8
