Tow Bar Help Please

Good evening,

I'm after a bit of help from the you gurus.

Ive had a 2012 Westminster for around a year now and we've decided to give caravanning a go.

My question is, which tow/ball do I need?

What I have looks factory fitted (?) and never used. I know it needs a clean up, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does it look like everything is there minus the ball/swan neck?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't look like a genuine tow bar to me - I have no idea what it is though......

The electrics are clearly there, as is the mount, so agree it looks like all you need its the swan neck - just which one ?

Is there anything in the under floor bin, in the boot on the right as you look towards the front of the car - that's where the swan neck would usually be stored.

Also - that looks like single 7 pin electrics. For caravanning you'd likely want dual 7 pin or 13 pin electrics.

That looks like a Witter vertical loading detachable Towbar.

Thanks for the replies.

The reason I thought factory fitted is, there is one on auto trader with the same set up but again, no swan neck. Also, I’ve looked through the options list and a detachable is an option.

Sadly nothing in the boot Big Cry

I think it’s 13pin?

Great. I’ll have a look at the Witter.

That's not a genuine Westfalia bar.

That's also not a Witter bar.

The bracket makes it look like an old Tow Trust bar. The bar may be different in design now, however you can see in the diagram below the fixation point for the detachable system looks very similar to the Tow Trust design.

If so, they should be able to sell you spare parts. Appreciate it's dirty and rusty, but there may be a type approval sticker on it somewhere giving you the model and serial number.

Yes, that's 13 pin. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Which? The one on my car or the photo from EBay?

From your comment, are the factory fitted bars Westfalia?

Updated my comment above, as clicked post before ready.

Yes, the factory ones were Westfalia. This isn't a Westfalia bar from the photo from your vehicle. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Oh yeah, it does look like the Tow Trust.

Even the bars between mounting bolts look similar.

Thanks for the help.

I’m sure there’s some writing in the front of it, I’ll get the wire brush out tomorrow

If your bar has these angled brackets, it is without doubt Tow Trust.

Like I say, could be an older design to mine, however the bracket which takes the detachable mechanism looks very Tow Trust to me.

Have a good look for the sticker which should reveal all. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

At this rate I’ll be replacing the whole thing.

Do you know if they use existing holes? from the factory option maybe?

Try and find a label. They get hidden under dirt.

A number of tow bars are now obsolete in accordance with the age of the vehicle, so you may need to replace the bar if you can't find the make or parts. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
