England 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver
Lower Rear Wheel Hub Suspension Bushes

Last year I got 2 advisories for the lower wheel hub suspension bushes on both wheels.
I bought the Laser tool No:5977 and decided to modify it as those bushes had been on the car from new 16 years ago !. I opened out the stud hole on all the cup bushes to 16mm, bought some M16 high tensile steel studding together with 2 off M16 x 60 long high tensile steel nuts.

The idea with the longer nuts was to spread the load through a greater number of threads in contact to reduce the risk of the thread stripping.
I also filed a flat on the largest extractor bush to eliminate having to remove the brake dust shield.

The bang when the suspension bush broke free was awesome, anyway all done and car back on the road.
NB: I bought 2 Lemforder bushes 28882-01 / RBK 500220 / LR032644G
plus 2 new nuts and bolts.

Thanks Dr Rob Thumbs Up

Hi Gavin,
I bought it from www.Premier-Factors.com in 2016, I tried the website just now no luck.
I just did a general search and prices range from £88.99 Amazon / E-Bay various / Motor Factors various prices to £181.26 from Laser !!!.
The hardest part was removing the 'c' clip, I managed to lift one end with a small screwdriver and lever it out. I didnt bother with undoing the bolt I just cut the nut off with my Dremel with a 38mm dia slitting saw.
I had to add a spacer together with a long series socket (to get round the brake dust shield edge).

If you plan to open out the holes in the extractor bushes like I did, I do have about 600mm of the Studding you can have and 2 long series M16 hex nuts.
Im sure the supplied studding will work, I just wanted to give myself a better chance as it looked really rusty
in that area.

Peter
