Alarm and dog left in the car

I am totally confused. We were told if you want to leave your dog in the car just press the lock button once, if I do that and the dog moves then the alarm goes off and In Control text and phone me.
This is what the online book says.

but it also says

Help
PS by dog I mean the spaniel not SWMBO letters not necessarily in the right order

Not sure if your model year is similar to mine but I have changed mine in the CCF to one press double locking so I press the button once and it is alarmed and double locked....??

I don't have a dog and SWMBO has been taught to sit very still if I lock her in..... Shocked Shocked Laughing Pete

Do you get a bleep when you just press it once? If so it’s double locking on one click. MY23 PHEV HSE

No, as I said on my 405 but I can't believe you can't turn the sound off on the 460, most modern cars have the option, personally I hate it making noises.... Thumbs Up Pete

I think you need to do a test, I don't have an L460 but why not sit in the drivers seat with the key, blip once move about and see what happens then blip twice and see if it any different. Then as I understand it you can do something with the car controls, so do this and repeat. Obviously I don't agree with locking a dog in the car with all the windows closed but small children OK. Anyway with a dog in the car why lock it at all Very Happy I recognise there are different types of dog, some make better guard dogs than others Geoff

an easier way to test is to leave a window open..

lock with key fob, wait 30 secs and then put your hand into interior.... ... - .- -.

You can set a setting in the system that when you turn the car off you get a message on the driver screen saying press the O button on the stearing wheel to disable the internal sensors next time the car is locked this works fine I use it all the time, if you don’t want to disable just ignore the message.

I will find the setting tomorrow but I think it’s under security.

Depending on what breed of dog you have there may be no need to lock the car at all.............

100% everyone needs to lock their dog in the car if left, regardless of breed, or risk losing it Sam!

Also, the sunroof or windows need to be down by a good few inches to provide fresh air.

On warm / hot days a dog shouldn't be left in a car at all, although hopefully I'm now stating the obvious!
