Block Heater Issue

I've just had my block heater wired up with the genuine wiring kit. Quite an elegant solution with a socket on the bumper (and cost a king's ransom).

I've just tested it and the earth leakage safety switch keeps popping off. It's rated at 1875 Watts.

Wondering if there could be short in the system? How would I test?

Suggestions welcome!

Well there's a couple of options - the wiring diagram is, as expected, simple.

Check the electrical earth is connected to the vehicle ground.
Check there is no water / ice in the connector.
Test the disconnection device with a 'known good' device that draws a similar current - but not a double insulated one.

If all OK, then an insulation test will be required.
