New ECU on FBH

Hi all,

Have been trying to get my webasto FBH sorted out... Had a really good webasto authorised repairer come out to me yesterday to see why my FBHnwas not working. Confirmed that the ECU on mine is blown which is apparently a common fault?

The unit is still in the car & he stated to buy a second hand one and swap it out... The cost to recondition it VS buying a reconditioned unit is almost the same price. Some folks I have spoken to state that if I buy a reconditioned / second hand unit it may not work in my car however, the chap I'm using assures me with the software he has he can make adjustments etc to ensure that a second hand unit will work in my car.

Couple questions:

I asked the chap to remove the FBH however, he said something about the fuel pipe and coolant pipe needing to connect which he didn't know how to do - I'm not very mechanically sound but does this sound right?

With the webasto software, can a second hand unit be fixed in my vehicle?

How common are ECU failures on the FBH's?

Thanks for your time
