A 4.2 SC was the first FFRR I drove, and compared to my previous Mercedes ML270 CDI it felt bloody awesome. Since then I've driven the 3.6TDV8 and a 4.4TDV8 and I must say I would not not swap my 4.2 SC for either, despite the improved fuel economy that the diesel gives.

So when the time comes to let mine go, I will be looking for a 5.0 SC.

guys i am a true green oval fan and have owned a few in my time and have driven all round the world on every continent in one, so no arguing about their capabilities.

i still stand by my statement and say that i could and would put a touareg anywhere you could put a FFRR!!

with the same features as on the FF, air suspension, centre and rear locking diffs etc the car is as capable as any L/R product.

i have seen people in L/R's Bottle out of some things and watch the VW go through without a hitch, that is of course as much down to driver skill as anything else.

not wanting an argument, but still standing by what i said having lived with one of these for 3 years.

Hugi.. i know what you mean about retro fits. VW/Audi are very expensive for this, but there is always a solution to get round things. i was lucky and had all the knobs a dials in mine, it was a 2008 model. i agree again about German cars, too efficient and souless really. at least the FF has a character and yes there is that badge issue too.

go on then, let's keep this going a bit longer..

done a bit of googling and came up with some stats.

these are for a Touareg and RRSC

Ground Clearance = VW-11.8" RRSC= 10.8"

App Angle VW- 33 degs RRSC- 34 degs

Dept Angle VW- 33 degs RRSC- 26.6 degs

with these stats you can see how similar these cars are. i still stand by my statements that this is a very good car and a serious alternative to the FF. This is not a mickey mouse SUV, but a serious 4x4 vehicle.

lets face it a Bowler wildcat or nemisis are nothing like their defender or RRS production cars brothers but are superb off road vehicles.

this must be the same for the Touareg Racing 3 which has swept up on the Dakar rally for the last three years.

I dont wanna argue anymore which car is better offroad but I have only one question:

did you use your touareg offroad?

and if yes,do you have pictures?

but I have to admit: a touareg is certainly better offroad than other german cars like the x5 or the q7

I used to love taking my touareg off road, racing round all over the place. It was awesome. I had to collect cans of BP Ultimate along the track.... Oh wait a minute that was a Miniclip game!

@ Hugi ... i was never arguing or saying which was the better car, all i said was the Touareg is a very capable 4x4.

yes i did some off roading in it and it did all i asked of it. the key to your success to be honest is decent tyres, without them even the mighty FFRR will get stuck.
