Passenger side mirror stopped dipping

For some reason, the passenger side wing mirror has stopped dipping when I select reverse. I have checked that the mirror selection switch is set to "driver" side, so I know that's not the problem. I can see it is dipping a little bit, but doesn't dip fully to enable me to see the kerb, as it used to.

Anyone have a fix for this? Cheers

Greg

Have you tried adjusting it down so you can see the kerb when it is in the dipped position? If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

I had my passenger mirror in bits last week, it's possible you have an obstruction stopping it moving so a stripdown may be in order?

Could just need the dipped position re-entered in the seat memory.

I wonder if there are sensors or something inside the mirror. I set mine up when I first got the car and no matter what I select or set or store, my passenger mirror does move when I engage reverse but just moves in small amounts all over the shop. Looks like it's having a fit of some sort. Kinda twitching all over the place.

I just ignore it these days but should fix it really. Ash

Thanks for the info guys. It seems very hit and miss at the moment - it didn't work yesterday, but this morning it did. And it still dips ok if I adjust it manually, so there's no obstruction that I can see.

Must admit, I wasn't aware there was a memory setting for it Embarassed so I'll try a re-set and see if that works. Cheers

Did you sort the problem?

If you select reverse and it doesn't move, switch the mirror selector button next to the window switches and it will start moving down! Thumbs Up 2009 TDV8 Vogue SE - Bonatti Grey

Thanks for the tip Mark, but I knew about the mirror selection button needing to be set to the right, and it always is. So that wasn't the source of the problem.

I've also tried the memory setting by dipping the mirror and pressing the memory button on the seat, but that just made the mirror stay dipped permanently Rolling Eyes

Sometimes it dips, sometimes it doesn't, but that just adds to the annoyance of the mirrors not folding out either when I press the remote to unlock the doors (I've got the Intravee set to unfold them).

And I'm still having battery problems, so that probably isn't helping. Big Cry

All in all, yet another frustrating foible with the FF!! Laughing Cheers

It was worth a try. I didn't know about it for a while.

I'm thinking out loud now and could be way off the mark Confused but could it be down the the reverse switch not working if they do have such a thing on these. Just a while back on a audi my reverse lights stayed on whilst driving and the parking sensors where also activated due to a dodgey switch. I'm sure someone with the proper knowledge might be able to say more about this.

Worth putting it out there tho. 2009 TDV8 Vogue SE - Bonatti Grey

Is the adjust switch on the right side? Moving the adjust switch over stops the dipping (thanks Stan)......

Thumbs Up

It would make sense that there is a switch or a sensor on the gear-shifter that triggers when reverse is selected and that then dips the mirror. But no-one has come up with a cure to fix it, if indeed that is the problem! Cheers
