4.4 TDV8 - Restricted performance issue on long road

Hi all,

As the title says, I am experiencing trouble with the "Restricted performance" message while driving outside of town.
While I am driving in the city there is no issue, even when I am accelerating on the boulevards activating the second turbo.
The message appears while I am driving on the motorway, after a while, with constant speed of around 120km/h, often on a hilly part.
So far I have checked the pipes and the manifold with smoke test, there is no problem with them...everything seems to be okay. The mechanical parts of the turbos are also fine but I am wondering about the valve or MAF/MAP sensors.
Any suggestions what may be the issue?

There are about 4 little holes in the bottom of the sensor. Did you clear them out?

I poked with a small piece of wire. Just to clear the holes.

Unlikley to be the MAP sensor given the symptoms. Usual culprit for these errors when going into the 2nd turbo stage is the CSOV valve that controls the airflow to the 2nd turbo located lower right front nr the radiator esp if it's the earlier version. Plenty of info on here about it if you input CSOV into the search function. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Hi Jay,

I was wondering, could it be CSOV if the message appears even when i have not activeted the second turbo and was just driving bellow 2500 rpm? For example driving on the motorway with around 1500-2000 rpm - 110-120km/h

Sorry I misread your post and thought it was only over 2400rpm Embarassed . Worth cleaning the MAP sensor anyway but avoid poking anything in it and just use brake cleaner spray. Proper diagniosis will need a scan from something like a GAP IID tool to get some error codes. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Okay.

I cleared really good the MAP sensor and tested the car. Still the same - when i try to accelarate slowly going uphill on the motorway with aroun 1700-2000 rpm - the car goes in limp mode : (

Get a diagnostic scan and see what faults are logged in the ECU. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Did you remember to clean the hole the MAP sensor sits in? Mine went into limp mode on the motorway at 65mph, turned out to be a blocked sensor & also the hole was full of crap! 🫣 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!
