Swirl Flaps. TD6 Engine

The TD6 BMW engine (in BMW cars) used to have "swirl flaps" in each port of the inlet manifold. There were problems if one of these broke up and was sucked into the engine and turbo and munched everything in it's path. A Google search brings up lots of horror stories. I'm assuming that, as nobody on here has mentioned such a problem, either they're not fitted to the engines that went into the Full Fat, or (less likely) there's a disaster waiting to happen. I've tried searching the forum without much success.
Does anyone know for sure if we have them or not? I'm tempted to take the inlet manifold manifold off and have a look, but it would be easier (and cleaner) if someone already knows the answer.

Colin

Maybe these guys can advise you, they do blanking plates for the BMW engines that have them.

I have looked in the workshop manual, and I could find no mention of them on the inlet manifold. Reformed

Thanks Reformed.
I've checked with a couple of the companies that supply blanking plates, and neither of them has any recollection of supplying for use on a Range Rover. They couldn't give me a definite answer either way though. My local Indy was a bit bemused by the question, and said he wasn't aware of them. It all seems to indicate that they were fitted to (some) BMW cars, rather than being an integral part of the BMW TD6 engine. I might still have a look though, just for peace of mind.
I'll post my findings if I do.
Anybody know where the smut filter is ?? Whistle
