Trying to fit a towbar and can't get the rear bumper off. It's driving me nuts.

I've undone all the screws and rivets as per RAVE but then I get to the incredibly useful:

"Depress 6 clips securing bumper to rear wings"

I can't see them, I can't feel them and I can't get the bumper sides out far enough to work out where they are or how I'm supposed to depress them. I don't want to just pull it as I know it will break.

Does anyone have any advice or photos?

I've seen a thread on here that says pull the sides down and out and a slot will appear, then wiggle a flatblade screwdriver in there. I can't even do that as I'm putting a lot of bend in the bumper already and can't get a blade in there without dinging the wing.

Put your hand in behind the plastic whell arch liner and pull sharply outwards, the bumper will disengage.

MAKE sure you powerwash the joint very casrfully to remove all silt as this will make it almost impossible to seprate!!!!! Current vehicles

Have a look at the topix instructions, as they provide the measurements for where the retaining clips are located.

I was just being a bit of a girl. Gave it a bit more effort after washing out the gap and it came off fine.

Good work Andrew, i know how you feel and my god taking mine off last night for a towbar fitment handfulls of muck and dirt just fell out!! think i will be hosing in that area a bit more often now to keep it clean
