My gearbox has failed. Just booked it in for repair, £2100 including VAT!


I asked if he'd done TD6's before, he has had several this month...

Part of the refurb is an upgraded oil pump, and recommends a service every 40-50K miles.

Going in tomorrow, says 4 day turn around.

116K, not all on one gearbox though, had one fitted by previous owner, but over 20K miles ago, so well out of warranty

Will be keeping a close eye on this new gearbox, i.e. regular servicing!

i had mine replaced at 114k, now i have 125k on the clock ...is there not a mileage warranty rather than a date one..

If it failed after 20k i'd be throwing the thing in through their window if it failed, 20k is stupid!

Mine hasn't been replaced from the history i have and im on 126k now, TOUCH WOOD, and am hoping to do an oil change soon but its super smooth, just wish the TC would lock up earlier

I feel for you as i think if mine failed i'd have to sell the car on as i couldn't stump up 2.5k to replace it!

The garage that is repairing gearbox does servicing, can't remember the exact cost (Below £150)

Of the 5 i had replaced on my Td6 one only lasted about 12,000 miles.

The dealer was of the opinion that if was faulty from the start..

That would seem to backup other info that seems around on the net.

I wonder also how towing affects them or thrashing from cold as it cant be good for the wear rate...
