Best just getting a Mag Mount and a CB radio , as long as your other mates have them as well , then just nominate a channel that you will all meet on , say channel 12 or whatever ...

Get a pmr446. The lads on the Salisbury meet used them. Make sure you get radios with subchannel capability. ..............................

What's subchannel then Stan ? Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

further info on the pmr446...these have 8 channels on the 446 mhz band and there are some radios with 38 subtones/privacy channels/sub channels amongst other names...

so if you're on channel 3, everyone else on channel 3 will be able to talk to you, but select a subtone of 17 for instance then you wont hear anybody else unless they are on the same subtone...

on salisbury plain the d3 lads used these , channel 1 with subtone 10 [making 110 ,as in defender 110 ,very apt].. ..............................

So do all 2 way radios work on band 446 ?
And is it just the main channels and sub channels that you select for your own use between the group ? i will never surrender to bling , mud and dirt all the way oh yeah . and pheasent blood in the back.

two way radios work on various frequency's, but the only ones that dont need a license to use are the pmr446 and the cb type...cb radio is mainly for installation in cars..

subtone/sub channels are also known as privacy channels so yes, if your group has selected say channel 1 plus a privacy channel 15, then only your group will be able to converse....saying that if someone had the time and patience to go through all the available selections [968!] then they could talk to you.. ..............................
