Saxtons 4x4 feedback?

I have a friend who is looking at px-ing his Audi A6 Allroad in for a FFRR, either a 4.4 V8 or a 4.2SC.
LPG conversions are probably part of the requirement or may get it done himself.

He has asked me about Saxtons and so far I have said that I've heard nothing but bad things about them.

So, is there any recent feedback about them? Anything at all? THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Everything I've either read or being told about them is always BAD.....

I know that when looking at 4x4's etc. I don't even bother looking at their advertised vehicles..... Laughing

I looked at several FFRRs there. All were prepared to a mediocre standard (superficial valet only plus smart repairs and coloured leather polish) and struck me as top-end priced.

I also had teh opportunity to look a few they'd bought in pre-prep - these were in exceptionally sh Censored te condition, so their policy seems to be to buy shabby cars and do them up.

Not nice.

All IMHO and based on my own personal observations. Graham

Yours might be a bit pricey for him Gary, but I have pointed him in your direction many times as you seem to get the nicest looking cars. Thumbs Up THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

My direct experience with them was disappointing. Made contact with them to discuss a couple of likely contenders before I found one elsewhere, and after hearing some horror stories about them, I was glad they never returened any of my calls, so I would consider myself to have had a very lucky escape! Got - 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black

From the dictionary

Saxtons [Sax-t-ons] - A bunch of arrogant rack and stack em cowboys that wouldn't know customer service if they tripped over it.

Seriously there are much better dealers than Saxtons. I have been there a couple of times. The cars are parked right 4-5in apart. If you ask for the keys, they treat you with contempt and suspicion. When you try to buy, they really do the hard sell. Basically they make car supermarkets like Car Giant look like angels.

I would buy from Gaz. Other dealers I can recommend Rob from David Brown Cars near Guildford or Simon from Proveeda in Ipswich. I am sure with any of these guys, if your mate gave them a call and told them what he/she was after, they could do some of the leg work for him. Paul

I went in there back in June when I was looking.

I took a D3 out for a test and the auto box wouldn't change up from first, drove it at full revs then switched to manual. The sales bloke said that fine, everything always gets fixed before the customer takes delivery.

As if you would want to buy it!!!

There were also a few discos and RR dropped down on their stops.

I asked for a part ex price on my x5, but they couldn't do it there and then and said they would call.

Gladly I never received a call.

The Allroad will probably sell well privately, and he'll do much better with cash. When I got a PX value from them it was ridiculously low, and their cars aren't cheap for what they are.

What's his budget? Get him to sell privately and point him towards BigJ's car? Or see if BigJ will take a px? Thumbs Up 2006 Supercharged

Turns out the miles are too high on yours BigJ. Lovely car though, looks beautiful.

he ideally needs one about 50K or slightly less. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Avoid, avoid, avoid! Not heard good things about them...I've even heard the vehicles the photos are of don't even match with the vehicle on site!
