United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zermatt Silver
Td6 Droning noise from front end

2006 Td6 at 96000 miles.
Lately when driving I get a droning noise from the front end, when driving straight and when in long left hand bends, on long right hand bends noise stops, no vibration, no clicking. It is not easy to pin the noise down exactly, but it does seem to come from the very front, not the transfer box area. As the noise can't be heard at low speeds, the old car park circle trick won't work.
To add to the above, the noise is very slowly getting worse.

Has anyone had the same?

I have put the front end on axle stands to carry out an inspection, and found no discernible play in wheel bearings or drive shafts, no oil leaks, brakes seem ok, no damage to wheels / tyres. No loose covers or shields, I am hoping it is a wheel bearing, as changing that is a relatively easy task.

Some previously arranged parts arriving tomorrow anyway, oil for diffs and transfer box, new anti roll bar and bushes, new wheel hubs / bearings, so plan to start work on Friday, weather permitting. First jobs will be change the wheel bearings, and front diff oil. Fingers crossed.
