How do i remove the rear window trim ?

Hi all

I want to remove the grey plastic external trim that runs left to right along the bottom of the rear window leaving the glass exposed like the 2010 FFRR has but mine is stuck solid and I'm worried impact will break the glass, anyone know how it comes off?

I seem to remember adjusting its position on a previous one as it was too far one way but my 2007 MY won't budge.

Anyone done this?

Thanks

Carl

IT actually just prys off. You will want to use a plastic pry tool and work your way across the window. It has to slide downward and out. Using some type of lubrication will help.

+1 as Boostwhore (GREAT name) said. I did mine after I washed it I actually started prying by using a small screwdriver in between the glass and the seal at the outside right end and chased across with a small plastic pry bar.

Cheers gents, does it simply pry off then and leave the window as per the 2010 which doesnt have this ugly trim?.

I notice the 2010 has some rubber edging at each side running vertically so will buy these to finish the look, unless its pointless?.

Is it not there for a reason on the earlier models??
By removing it do you not cause any issues with water leaking in?
Any one got a pic of what it looks like without?

AFAIK its just a finisher for the glass, the 2010 glass looks identical if you look on the end of the finisher, i wouldnt mind seeing a pic of a pre 2010 with the finisher removed before i pry mine off today tho Whistle

Can't help with a pic at the moment. No broadband- replying on my iPhone and can't upload pics. I did mine last Feb and had no water ingress.

Tempted to do this myself now that I have noticed it - though like the others, I would like to see some images of the finished article first. Ram Kanadia

Carlos, do you also have an image or part number of the 'rubber edging' - I may be attempting to remove the trim this weekend. Ram Kanadia

Sorry but i dont, they are about £12 each from LR but dont look to do anything other than "finish" the windows at the sides. Our 2002 - 2009 cars dont have it so probably dont need it either.
