Wheel Repair

I have a few small cracks on the inner rims of my 22" Overfich Super Seven wheels. The cost of replacing them is prohibitive and to get a specialist to repair them is pretty costly also.

I came across this very impressive sounding aluminium brazing product called HTS-2000 on the internet, and am wondering if anyone here has used it?

I would replace them if you can I would be very wary about trying to fix them given the weight of the range rover. There asre some good deals on ebay on 20' and 19s which you should consider if you afford them.

I'd echo that. A 2.5 ton car at 100mph+ = a lot of stress on the alloy wheels. I'm not even sure I'd trust a professional repair.

Overfinch alloys have a long standing reputation for being too weak and cracking. They use a cheap manufacturer (i am told).

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I am constantly on the lookout for the original 18" wheels for my car, but the car came with these 22" wheels and and I have invested a fair wedge of euros getting one wheel professionally welded and buying 3 new tyres, so I'm also keen to get these rims fixed and hang on to these wheels.

This brazing product appeals to me as you're only heating the wheel to 730F, as opposed to welding where you are essentially melting the wheel to 1200F, and hence the risk of buckling is much greater. This HTS-2000 also is stronger than a weld so I don't really see the risk of repairing these.

Now I wasn't born yesterday, and these are the claims from the manufacturer, so I'm just looking for some independent corroboration of their pretty impressive claims from anyone here who may have used it.

I've seen then do somethign similar on the american car restoration/bling programmes. Impressive results when they could not get replicas made (think it was for an old Shelby charger of some sort)
