Side steps are fine; they were available OEM.

Lots of people prefer the look without but mine has them and I like it, plus they are actually useful. If you use them then you don't keep brushing against the seat bolster causing wear when you get in and out.

And before you ask - we disapprove of chrome mirror caps as well Mr. Green

Keep it classic - great lines great look. All original is the way to go on pre facelift cars.

Great colour Paul Wink

Side steps are great for other family members (although you have to tell them how to do it) but not much good (along with mudflaps) if you are heading off road.

Purists will frown also at chrome door handle covers (zealots!). I have been trying to decide what to do with mine as I either repaint or cover. Three options chrome, black or original grey. Chrome tends to look good on black or grey/silver cars, but I think the grey covers would look better on our red cars.

However if you want to bling your car - you go ahead, just take all your pictures before you do it and post up your car Wink No-one will ever know .....but at resale time folk will look at the bling and wonder why (Carlos Fandango and all that!) e.g. what are you trying to distract me from?

Don't mess around with the original styling - it's close to perfection as it was!
Don't be brainwashed by all this talk of "facelifting" and "upgrading", as in my humble opinion, all they do is basterdise Reitzel's perfect modern reinterpretation of the classic range rover.
I love the fact that I have an original BMW masterpiece, and I hope you come around to the same way of thinking.
Best of luck with it anyway whatever you do Very Happy
