take it from me if you are thinking of buying a second hand car trailer be VERY careful. I bought one back in February, it was advertised as being in good used condition. Knowing very little about trailers I went down and had a look and it seemed fine so I bought it.
Ran it round for a few weeks but it didn't seem quite right when loaded. Took it to the local trailer specialist and £1250 later I got it back.
Bare in mind if you are thinking about buying one of these trailers second hand they are usually bought for one reason and one reason only. Inevitably at the beginning of there lives they do 1000's of miles on a hire fleet with next to no maintanence and then they are just sold off to the likes of you and me. Because the bodys and chassis are all galvanised they look fine, its the running gear that takes the hammering if it doesn't get looked after properly.
I ended up with new axles, brakes, brake cables, the correct tyres to carry the load, hubs etc etc. The one concelation is that the trailer is now as good as new. Since I got it back I have replaced all the mudguards, rewired it from front to back and replaced all the light.
The only trouble is the main reason I bought it was for a little project that has now taken a change of direction so I don't use it.
Its for sale for the right price, the only problem is I'm in Cornwall.
If your interested drop me a line,
Dave,
P.S If you are thinking of buying second hand take somebody with you who knows what they are looking at.
