I had a similar though less severe experience recently whilst very low on fuel, just power loss on motorway, no eml, and was fine after I filled up! |

My M5 was continually going into limp home mode and being trailered back to the dealer, eventually it was diagnosed as being the MAF Mass Airflow sensors, in others words the oxygen sensors, they were replaced and it was like getting a different car in terms of the power, it released the full might of the 5.0 V8 which had been running poorly before.

The EML came on when i restarted and also a message saying the engine was running on reduced power. After filling up, the EML had gone off and there were no warning messages. |

You VERY probably have a dodgy fuel pump as those are the exact 4.2 SC symptoms I suffered and Dan suffered when the fuel pump cannot "Jet" fuel from one side of the bottom of the tank to the other! Normally happens with about 65 miles to empty indicated.....

Mick - As Adam says its slightly suspicious that they had the car for over a week to fix the cold start squeak and reverse camera, and the day after I pick it up I had this problem.
