Door handle cable?

Just went to open the drivers door, pulled the handle, heard a click, and now the handle doesn't open the door!
Door opens fine from the inside.
Any ideas and is it a job I could tackle myself?
Thanks

Just did a forum search and found this thread for you: (+door +handle +cable !!)

Also check out powerfuluk, pretty certain they did a video on taking the door card off (maybe about wing mirrors) .

When taking the door card off, you might break a few clips. These are the right ones:

EYC500280 DOOR TRIM CLIP G-CAT (G)

You can get them from www.brit-car.co.uk - 27p each.

Just had the same problem with the drivers door on my 03 RR. outside handle moves but doesn't do anything
Removed the the door card to see the cable had broken tight to the nipple on the outer door handle. I removed the cable completely, shortened the outer by 12mm, made a new nipple and fitted this the end of the cable allowing for the 12mm decrease in length. Refitted the cable to the door, works perfectly. Incidentely I have ordered a new cable, but I think the cause of my cable breaking was that instead of the nipple rotating as the outer door catch is moved, the cable was flexing tight to the nipple. I have put some grease on the nipple now which is allowing it to rotate. NC N C.
