Wood flooring tips

I've got to lay a solid wood floor for my I laws next week so have been having a look round YouTube at a few videos and it seems simple enough. I've got a door saw and secret nailer booked ready. The bit that is giving me a headache is how do you fit the final board and make it look good? We're going to lay it under the skirting board to remove the need for beading round the edge. The rooms are totalling 38sq/m and are about 11m in total length. We planned to make the boards run straight true to eye the length of the rooms then work out to one wall, loose then fix and work back to the other wall. Doe this sound right or does anyone have an tips etc? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

It sound like you have thought of the right kind of things , if you aren't doing a beading make sure it is at least a 1/4" gap all round for expansion before you re=install the scripting board . You are right to wonder about blind nailing towards the final wall and here you need a blind nailer that can convert to vertical and one or two runs of boards will have to be just carefully nailed then sunk and filed , also draw a centre line down the room to help cheek you are not going wonky for some reason ( nothing worse than a 30' by 2" triangular fillet to finnish ) One other thing I would recommend is to leave the wood to season in the house it's to be installed in for as long as possible to stabilise its moisture content to the houses humidity . 2008 MY Supercharged

I'd always reccomend a tiny bit of silicone around the edge as when a drink is inevitably spilled if it runs to the edge it will go under an damage the underlay and seep into the board easier and cause it to flex and lose shape Sad. Don't ask me how I know this Evil or Very Mad

Wow. Scarey cold you move this to off topic. I hadn't realised I had posted here. Obviously the FFRR would look good with a solid wood floor but don't think it would be doable in my weekend off. Lol [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I'm sure the Americans 'wood' have no complaints about a bit of 'would' on the FFRR Big Cry Big Cry
