i think we all went sideways one time or other..

I guess the Snow Traction System is slimmer and so will fit on the front - I tried chains on 20's & there is not enough space - I think it was a shock absorber & the tyre.

I would go front every time if you onlyy have 1 set and they will fit - But I don't understand why you wouldn't put them on all 4 though !

I've carried chains for many years & never needed them - but I do run Vred's in the winter I take the RR to the ski slopes every year and it's compulsory to carry a set so that's what I do.

I managed ok Stan! Maybe something to do with the new Cooper Zeon's i had fitted the week before Salisbury... Awesome on and off road... Must see how they cope with snow next!

sure will CSK if we get a chance to use them. I have wintrac's as well so that set up is guaranteed to ensure the mildest alpine weather!!!!!

Hello there RWilson! I hope you are well! I would be interested to hear your experience with the snow traction system. Did the back actually come round on a steep icy descent with the snow traction system fitted to the front wheels only, do you think the system is worthwhile? Thanks for your feedback!

Found out that our Hill decent control works going down a hill backwards on snow in our D3 ! I presume a FFRR does as well?

Works in forward and reverse on all vehicles fitted with it IIRC.

The reverse is mainly for if your ascending and stall that it will allow much easier descent. though on LR Experience they teach you to select Low Range, Reverse, start the engine and just take your feet off all the pedals anyway as it would have to be at the limit or over and a hefty amount of kg's to cause it to pick up speed in Low Range  FFRR 2005 facelift With an SC Grille and that's it!

Tried out the snow traction system but testing it only. It was very good, but even in deep snow in the Alps 3 weeks ago, I had no real need to use it, the Wintracs were brilliant.

I would however use it on unploughed roads, it is very reassuring to have them in the boot to be deployed at 2am which seems to be our standard arrival time at the base of the mountains!!!

Thanks for your feedback! Wintracs and the LR Snow Traction System in the boot just in case seems to be the solution for trips to the Alps.
