Agreed, I've had a 535d and a 635d...the best bi-turbo diesel at the time, 40mpg and they can be easily chipped. What let them down was the clunky auto box and a noisy engine at idle, but still great drives. Current:2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue

James @ Lookers Park Royal - Do you have any XJ's that you could do a good deal on? BTW i bought my FFRR from your dealership when it was called HR OWEN.

AMD & bozmandb9 - Thanks for the headsup on the 530d which i haven't test driven however I have sat in a few 1) the rear leg room is ok-ish 2) the cabin doesn't feel that special. I could also stretch to a new style 2010 730d series which seem like a nice driving environment and very high tech.

any more suggestions?

530d...no. 535d...yes, same engine but bi-turbo. I had a 745i, it drove like a barge..a nice car for your chauffeur if you intend to sit in the back.

It's all a matter of personal choice but I always start with the engine I want, then the manufacture, then the model depending on the way in which I would use it. Current:2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue

Nice to hear that you are already a customer. I joined the day that Lookers bought the dealership back in September 2006, therefore you would have bought just before my time under HR Owen ownership.

We have a good selection of XF's presently, however used XJ's are a little thin on the ground at the moment. We changed our XJ demo's at the end of Septmeber which meant that we had a few in Oct/Nov however they have now gone. I will certainly keep an eye out for you, however it's probably best to keep checking the national locator too.

Personally, springs but the air matic once in the firmer setting isn't far off, I think it's down to personal prefference, I prefer the slight;y firmer suspension that the springs setup seems to have. 2006 Mercedes CLS
