Never liked DRL's and could never see why we don't employ the same methods as other euro countries that require lights during the day all year round.... a £5 relay in a certain position in the car puts the lights on when the engine is running... simples Smile

I suspect the fitment shown on the RR in the picture may not conform to the legal requirements for the fitting of DRL's. The maximum distance they may be fitted is 450mm from the outer edge of the car which on a RR is almost exactly where the fog lights are.
I would check with the suppliers if you decide to order.
They would look better if they were circular.

I think you'll find that these come under optional/additional lamps and not obligitory (think truckers 10 x daylighter spotlamps). As such are not included in the Con & use regs for this age of car.

Not quite true, daylight running lights are now included in an update to the Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989.

@Scarey
Just curious, I agree you have effectively removed your non-obligatory front fog lights and replaced them with drl's but have you ever been pulled by plod for having your "foglights" on during the day?
Best solution I've seen for drl's on a RR.

never been pulled..if i did then i would point out that fogs need the sides lights to be on to work and the fact that mine are not on would put me in the clear..i rest my case your 'onour.. Mr. Green

one point , to avoid a dash error for the now defunct fogs you need to put resisters on the fogs.. ... - .- -.

The only thing I could think you might have a problem with is that by putting an led lamp in the existing fitting, the combination of lamp and fitting is not "E" marked and thefore not strictly legal. Although I think someone would have to be very keen to spot that.
Do you disconnect them for mot?

just had a mot and as its not a legal requirement to have front fogs ,it passed ..in fact the mot bloke commented on how noticeable my range was [because of the lights] when they drove it into the mot station.. ... - .- -.

Might have a look into that in the New Year, particularly as it's easily reversible without damaging the car. Thumbs Up

I have xenon DRL's by fitting a xenon kit in the fogs and using a five pin relay...As soon as you switch on the lights (side or main or auto) they turn off...

Plus they have their power taken from a source that stays live for 35secs after the key turns off so i can see my way home in the dark!

Did'nt want an add on lamp, as most look horrid IMO (take a look at the 2012 DRL's in the 322) so went the factory look way...

them xenons must be pretty bright craig , i've found that my 18 smd's are enough...the beauty of using a dedicated drl switch is that they still stay on with the sides so on days where the bright headlight xenons are to much ,you have the sides and drls.. ... - .- -.

same here, i have LEDs in my fogs and it went through the mot fine, yes LEDs dont throw that much light but look fine for DRL's, I changed my high beam to LEDs but they were no good at all so swapped them to a xenon kit giving me tri-xenons never said any thing about them in the mot ether. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
