l322 rain sensor/intermiant

anyone come across this one
my wipers work constantly on intermitant which is a pain but does have a rain sensor
i am lead to belive when you select intermitant you also select auto so i can only guess the rain sensor thinks its raining
there is no dirt or squashed bugs in front of the sensor
i just want my intermitant to work and no auto sensing i want to be in control of the wipers
any ideas ? 2004 4.4 v8 vogue se

You can have the "Auto Wipers" disabled by the dealer or by an indy with the right computer. You can then set the variable delay to be 5, 10 or 15 seconds.

However, it would be more to the point if you had the system repaired so that the auto wipers worked properly....

One possibility is in the screen-mounted sensor; do you also have trouble with the automatic lights? The same sensor doubles for both wipers and lights on.

If you pop off the cover surrounding the mirror, the sensor is clipped to the windscreen. It may have fallen off or come unclipped on one side, especially if you've had the screen changed recently. See if you can unclip it and reclip carefully. Graham

2004 wouldn't have had auto lights - same principle applies though to check the wiring. Especially if it's ever had a replacement screen.

If it's a 2004 without auto lights then chances are it does not have auto wipers either. Mine didn't until I bought the sensors and new LCM (for the lights)

Easy way to check is to look from the outside at the rear view mirror base. You will see the sensor below it if it has them. There is a thread with pics but can't find it right now.

Good shot from comports of a mirror without the sensor. If yours looks like this then there's no sensor:

Comports has the only Vogue I know of with no rain sensor.

It is/or should have been standard spec for all Vogues from 2002 - although as I said, comports has proven that isn't 100%

You can check whether you have one on Microcat...

Suppose it may have had the screen AND mirror etc replaced at some point in the past. The wiring would be there then, easy enough to check I guess.

Klf400 has a Vogue too; if he's got the same mirror and no sensor then that proves the rule wrong, I suppose. Graham

agreed... but it would go against all printed LR advertising literature as well as the workshop manuals.

I actually wonder whether comports original owner asked for the car to not have the feature?

I'd be surprised if it is a Vogue SE being a 2004... the Vogue SE was introduced on the 55 plate. With the occasional 05 sneaking through.
