I have had two eBay buyers turn up to collect things in decatted 4.4's and they were very happy with their sound... Stood outside both cars i think they sounded ridiculous IMHO. I live on a fast road so at times you have to accelerate hard out of our driveway...

I have a decatted SC FF, i was nervous about this conversion as i didnt want mine sounding like an old boy racers corsa... And, it didnt luckily... I was told its because of the way the Supercharger disrupts the air, thats why its quieter and deeper in sound...

It.s been talked about on here quite a lot recently and with the new MOT regulations that just came in to force , if a vehicle had a CAT fitted at manufacture and it has subsequently had it removed that is a straight fail . 2008 MY Supercharged

^^^^^ What he said, with the proviso that the car being tested is subject to a full cat test. Some older petrol engined cars had cats fitted at manufacture but were not subject to a full cat test.
Petrol and lpg engined cars are subject to a full cat test and will need the cat in place to get an mot. Nothing to do with whether they sound nice without a cat or not.

Is anybody aware of whether sports cats are available for the FFRR? If so would they still be caught out by the new MOT regs? 2006 Supercharged

Why not cut out the oem cat and weld flanges on the exhaust and cat and make a de cat pipe that will go between then all you have to do mot time is bolt in your cat i will never surrender to bling , mud and dirt all the way oh yeah . and pheasent blood in the back.

I'd just find somewhere breaking a 4.4 and see if they have some used cat's instead Smile Bash the guts out and away you go.

When it comes to emmissons at MOT time if you have LPG installed they only do a smoke test. this is from personal experience and from what i've seen of the new rules its not changed.

yes they check for a cat, but if the box is there they wont take it off to check for internals Very Happy

problem being if its a project khan exhaust that includes freer flowing cat's then replacement ones will be a mare to find, so the flange weld in option would be the only way but is a faff for every MOT to climb under the car before and then after the MOT to swap them about...

Yep, exactly what I've seen done in the past. As for emissions testing, find a quiet country garage where the sniffer could accidentally be shoved into a different vehicle. Whistle Whistle Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

seems like a lot of hassle to me for a few bhp ....get sports cats - you can get them custom made for any car for a few hundred quid...but you need 2, so it could be £7-800 for about 5bhp that you wont even notice on a 2.5ton vehicle Sad cheers
