Quick question to all you other 3.6 TDV8 owners out there....


Does yours have a sort or groaning/buzzing/light vibration when under load at between 1,900 and 2,500 revs?

On mine, there is a noticeable difference in sound and vibration (through the pedals and dash) when the engine is 'pulling' in this rev band than when outside of it or not 'pulling' / under load.

It is not a major issue but annoyingly it roughly represents the 70-80mph 'cruising speed' bracket in 6th. Normally it only becomes apparent when everything is up to full temp.

Just wondering if this is normal and other TDV8's of this vintage are the same or whether it is something I should be investigating a bit more closely?

Would be great it you could 'have a listen' for this when you are next out in yours and let me know....

Might put my mind at rest (or not!!).

Mine is a 4.4TDV8 but does what you describe! Is it very random? Usually only occurs on motorways? Lasts for a few seconds at a time?

I need a recording but never can get one - dealer always says cannot replicate.

Definitely more noticeable on motorways but certainly not exclusively. Mine not that random actually, pretty much there whenever the engine is under load in that rev band, after it has warmed up.

No, mine doesn't.

Sorry I can't help any more! It does lots of things I don't think it should, and doesn't do some that I think it should, but it doesn't make a sound as you describe.
