Coin tray instead of centre console swing out cup holder?

Hello everyone,

A while back Gazellio posted some great pics of his 06 with a 2012 facelift. On the pics I noticed the swing out cup holder was missing, and instead there were a pair of coin trays.

http://www.garyelliott.co.uk/prestige_cars...ed_016.jpg

Gazellio believes this is OEM. Anyone have any ideas what the part number is? My cup holder is stiff as old boots an is never used, so I fancy replacing it!!

My car has the same part as gaz's. If its easy to remove I will look for a part number in the back.

Why would you want to get rid of the BEST cup holder design ever made?

All the modern ones in LR's are total crap, nothing fits in them, whether you have the rubberised inserts or not - what sort of blind monkey designs theses things? It beggars belief.

If I were you, I'd remove your cup holder, lubricate it with WD40 and replace it back in the car, much more useful than a poxy coin tray, isn't that what the round ashpot can be used for (and keys) THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

OP did say that its never used and maybe he uses the ashpot for err, ash , so the coin tray is a good alternative.. ..............................

Just buy a nice LR/RR cup and stick it in the cupholder and use it for coins Smile 2006 Range Rover Supercharged, Zambezi silver, black laquer/jet interior and all options.

I'll second that - best cup holder by far, you can fit anything in it, and the design is brilliant - it's one of the first things I show people when they look at the car - everyone loves it! Very Happy

And in the newer version, it took them about 5 minutes to rob a design from something rubbish, probably American, and they never bothered to try and see if it worked in the uk.

How hard can it be to design one and test it against all the major brands of drinks and bottle and can types?

Send Johnny down to tesco with £50. Tell him to buy every different type of plastic water bottle and drinks bottle and a can of coke.

Johnny comes back, see which design fits most variations. Job Done.

The fact that LR updated the design with a new insert that has 3 rubberised sections shows they realised the original was pants. I have both sets of inserts, they are both useless.

I want that person's job, I could do it a billion times better! Censored THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Hmm, maybe I should try using the cup holder!! However, I do use the ash pot area for my thermos mug ( the only drink I ever have!), and also the rubber coating on the folding cup holder is looking very shabby.... No-one does a walnut trim piece to cover it do they??

As promised, the part number on the back of the Coin Tray is FHM500130.
