Door handle replacement

Mine aren't in perfect condition so when I saw a set for sale I bought them. Genuine LR - personally I didn't want chrome covers, but now I have seen some Brunel covers and I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle or cost of actually changing the handles or if I should simply buy grey covers for a quick/easy fix? I've read instructions about door card removal etc and watched a video but I am wondering what to do? My local independant dealer has suggested it might take 45 mins per door so I'm thinking I should give it a go myself - gulp!

Daveo - that's encouraging, apart from the bit about the cost of handles Rolling Eyes

Bought off eBay for a good bit more than you suggested, so maybe I could also sell them on ebay and buy a new set for £40?

they work out about 10 inc vat each with the cap and new pin and clip, you would get change out of 40 for a set of 4...if you are going to fit a set then fit a new set... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Confused Confused

Just rang the dealer and they have quoted me about £360 for the set and a simliar amount to fit. I have the parts so no problem there hopefully, but when I quote the part number it's not helping.

Apparently the front doors are .8 of an hour to fit each and the rears .6 each

Hmmm . . . . . . . .

have they priced the whole door handle as i can promise you they are around 40 a set, do you want to change the complete door handle or just the handle and cap V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Daveo, thanks for persisting with this - no definately just the external handles. You know, the bit that you pull and the paint falls off! The handles work perfectly and the surrounds behind were repainted by the dealer when we bought it. Part number on the boxes are all FRH 500010 but when I checked they said this was not the handle? I have a separate little box with the small keyless cover in.

heres the handle when removed, you can give the gasket a good clean at this point

you need to tap out the pin that goes through end of the handle,i used a 4mm pin punch over a block of wood with a hole drilled in it.

fit the new handle and use the new star clip supplied and bingo all done..

A quick belated many thanks to Daveo as I was about to pay £70ish from ebay as well, but now I'll just get the covers you got.... Does the door card need to come off to chage the covers?
