Car and Driver says that it is getting a 523 hp 4.4 liter turbocharged V8.

Which, I suppose, means that the rumours of a BMW V8 were true.

They did not ship the plant to Wolverhampton. The Bridgend engine line was past its useful life. They invested in a brand new V8 line.

So, surprising indeed if they go with BMW engines.

I would be surprised if LR couldn’t see another 10 - 15 years (which is all they really need) out of the Ford V8, having just bought the rights to build it and shipped the plant to Wolverhampton. ...

By model year 2015 (assembly date July 2014 onwards, if I remember correctly), the bugs were worked out.
