| thanks for the reply, by dash assembly do you mean the whole dashboard - in other words start removing the driver/passenger vents, the speaker grill then unscrew the whole thing to get at the HVAC sys ... |

Answered my own question, they just pop off with a flat screwdriver under the clip at each end.

i got a can of that PTFE spray on the recommendation here as mine makes a slight fan/buzzing noise when the heater first runs in the winter (but not the cold AC in the summer)

as has been stated you really need to get to what is behind the reduced performance error and get the codes read, or get a code reader (I love the gap one as frequently mentioned here)
