As per my reply to your post on the 405 thread, if you are handy with a dremel this might save you a fair chunk of expensive change..

Looks like a dog of a job if you follow the documented procedure, however if you are handy with a dremel, this might help..!!

I'd be thinking that a control cable supplier / maker could replace the broken cable fairly inexpensively. Got to be worth asking the question?
