I probably ought to anyway as I don’t know when it was last done but do I “need” a tracking check after changing this arm?

| Good question. Belt and braces - I jacked the hub up to the correct height and tightened there first then checked the nut again after a test drive. |

Added some polythene and the ball clicked into the socket with a satisfying thunk but I suspect it won't last long. Ordered some of those clips (thanks Stuart) to see if they will work

As a temporary fix, put some polythene sheet over the ball then press into the socket with a decent pair of pliers, you'll need to replace the linkage assembly soon though.
