new key fob remote battery and flat car battery questions

Hi all

just a couple of questions i have searched to find the answer but not found exactly what i want

Had to jump the rangie today as battery flat think last couple of short runs the cold and possibly still an original battery on a 2004 car maybe all problems together. Checked with a voltmeter and when running it kicks out 12-14 volts and started after being stopped for about 20 mins. Not sure if it will hold so will replace the battery with a good one. not sure if its co incidence but after having to unlock the doors with the key as there was no power the remote wont lock/unlock/open the boot, the light still flashes on the fob but it doesnt work. Gonna get a new remote battery from care spares shop tomorrow will I need to reprogramme it or will it work without?
Also after re setting all the clock etc once running i have set the date and the date format in settings but when I exit this it wont show the date on the bottom left corner of the screen, even after stopping and starting a couple of times

any ideas?

thanks in advance all

PS gonna get a solar charger as we only tend to use it at weekends and they look to have good reviews for the Maplin ones

battery's generally only last about 3 'ish years on the fullfat due to all the heavy electrics on it...

the remote probably didnt release the tailgate because certain systems shut down when the battery is at a low voltage..

14.5 volts on idle is what i get ..

euro car parts were doing a discount , not sure if still valid though http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic9867.html ... - .- -.
