Landrover experiance - 2010 version

Went to Skipton on Saturday for a full day level 1 course.

Only cost £99 Very Happy

2 of us AM in a Disco, unfortunately the Disco 4 did not arrive before I left.

PM on my own, with instructor in a 2 week RR Vogue SE. Very Happy Very Happy

Must say not much different, apart from the electronic gizmos. The cameras were useful though.

Sorry should have said £99 + voucher from dealer that they dish out now and again. Was told the voucher was more for possible purchasers, so let me upgrade.

Just had the half day at Skipton myself in the FFRR 2010 Model. I now want one!! The guy who took me (& a mate) round was brilliant, had us doing 60mph on the grass then showing us the quickest way to bring the car to a halt and then demonstrated the off-road setting to the extreme. I could not believe its stopping ability. We also went on the main roads and he demonstarted the cruise control feature that locks onto the car in front and adjusts your speed (up to the max. you have set) to match the other car to the point where we followed a car without brakes/accel into a village and let the car in front slow us down as we approached a roundabout ! (think it only works down to 20 mph though). It was funny watching our car match the car in front mph for mph and also keeping our specified distance.
Also demonstrated the new handbrake (releases when you press accelerator so don't have to do it manually) and the reverse gear which you can now actually select whilst still driving forward (even at a reasonable speed) and when the car eventually stops going forward, it starts to drive backwards.
I've never seen so many 09 and 59 plate LRs in one place. They had the new D4s with/without winches, RR Sports and the 2010 RRs . Worth a half day, even at £99 , although mine was for free from LR.

Ah sorry Nigel, slight misunderstanding on my part. I was thinking the half day I had would be £99 normally and so your full day would be nearer double (i.e. £99 extra again), but I'm guessing now that the half day is for LR dealer use only and isn't an option normally. I got the option to upgrade mine through the post after booking it and it was an extra £349 for a full day course for 3 of us so your £99 extra wasn't bad at all. One thing we didn't get to do was drive the car through their 'river', the instructor showed how to do this - in forward and reverse! Cheers
